Groundwater modelling for deep excavation dewatering

Numerical groundwater modelling established dewatering requirements for deep excavations on a waterfront development.

Two adjacent developments required excavation below the water table. Numerical groundwater modelling was used to derive head distributions across the stratigraphic sequence and establish the dewatering rates required to keep the excavations dry and stable.

The output was a dewatering specification the contractor could build to, supported by borehole data and modelled head maps for each aquifer layer.
